// Safe Car Hauling Pick Up & Delivery Instructions
Steps to to Prepare a Car for Transport
When Picking Up the Car:
- The Designated Pickup Contact and your car transport service driver should conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle.
- Ensure that you conduct this pre-inspection in a brightly lit area. Additionally, have your bill of lading—that is, your receipt and Condition Report—readily accessible.
- The Vehicle Condition Report, also referred to as the Bill of Lading, must be completed and signed by both the driver and the pickup contact. Each party should retain a copy for their records.
- If feasible, capture numerous photos and videos with the driver.
When Delivering the Car:
- The Designated Delivery Contact and Driver will do a final inspection of your vehicle.
- During this POST inspection, conduct a thorough walk-around of the vehicle to ensure it remains in the same condition as when it was picked up.
- Keep a moist towel on hand to wipe away the bare dirt from your vehicle, allowing you to distinguish between “dirt and damage.” It’s quite normal for your car to accumulate grime during a long-distance shipment. Consequently, making a stop at a gas station equipped with a car wash post-delivery is highly recommended for a thorough cleaning.
- If your vehicle arrives after dark in poorly lit conditions, detecting any damage can be challenging. We suggest keeping a flashlight nearby to ensure you can inspect the vehicle thoroughly, even in low light situations.
- Should the carrier be responsible for any damages, these must be noted on the Bill of Lading.
- Claims cannot be processed unless the Bill of Lading bears a carrier’s signature.
- Both you and the carrier will sign the condition report, with each party retaining a copy for their records.
In Case of Damage:
- The condition report should document any damage attributed to the covered driver. Additionally, it must be acknowledged and signed by the driver, admitting fault, prior to any compensation being issued.
- Capture photos and ensure they are documented and signed on the paperwork. Retain a copy for your records and inquire with the driver about the claim filing process. Note that each carrier follows distinct procedures for their insurance policies.
- Once you’ve taken delivery of your vehicle and finalized all paperwork with the carrier, please inform your Safe Car Hauling agent. This enables us to update your file and offer any further assistance you may need.
- If you do not obtain a carrier-signed Bill of Lading or Condition Report upon delivery that documents any damage with the carrier’s acknowledgment, filing a claim becomes impossible. It’s your responsibility, along with that of your pickup and delivery contacts, to ensure the carrier adheres to this procedure. If the carrier fails to follow these guidelines, and no special arrangements have been made to the contrary, you should immediately contact your Agent at Safe Car Hauling.
